Common questions

Do I need to be able to run?

No. Members range from four or five years old to people over sixty, and fitness level does not matter. The route and the pace are adapted to the group: some cover three symbolic kilometres for the company, others get a proper ten-kilometre session.

I am not Ukrainian. Can I join?

Yes, and that is not a formality. Foreigners have been joining since the very first runs — Spaniards, Latin Americans, a Japanese man who speaks fluent Ukrainian, a Canadian photojournalist, an Italian who has volunteered in Ukraine twice. The organisers say the most accurate name for the club is Ukrainian (and not only) runners in Barcelona.

When do you run?

Every Saturday at 9:00. The meeting point and the route are announced before each run on the club Instagram — the same place where all other activities are posted.

How much does it cost?

The run itself is free. But no club event happens without collecting donations — it is the thing a community abroad can realistically do for the people who make normal life back home possible.

Where does the money go?

Every donation goes to the Hurkit fund, which buys weapons and equipment for air-defence units. As of January 2025 the club had raised 222,000 hryvnias, spent on grenade launchers, bombers, drones, mortars and air-defence equipment.

Is the club only about running?

No. Members play padel, volleyball and tennis, go hiking, run climbing and slackline lessons, and ride skateboards, rollerblades and bikes. There is also a charity pub quiz, an open stage and the Ukrainian tech community of Barcelona.

I have just moved to Barcelona. Where do I start?

Just come on Saturday. The club has become the channel people turn to right after arriving in a new city and looking for their own — the chat has grown from twenty contacts to thirteen hundred members.

Are you only in Barcelona?

Club runs also took place in Lisbon in March 2024 and in Malmö in September of the same year. An active branch group works in Poland.
